The European Circular Bioeconomy Fund (ECBF) invests and partners with ambitious
and visionary entrepreneurs and investors to accelerate late-stage companies. The fund aims to fill a funding gap in the European bioeconomy, especially bringing Europe’s excellent expertise in circular technologies to market. The ECBF, established in Luxembourg, is advised by the experienced investment team of ECBF Management GmbH and managed by Hauck & Aufhäuser Funds Services S.A., an AIFM. Being a growth-stage venture capital fund, ECBF provides project financing as well as typical venture capital investments. ECBF works intensively in identifying the most promising investment targets
in the European Bioeconomy landscape and encouraging private and public investors to join the financial rounds.

Investment requirements

ECBF seeks mature growth-stage companies in bio-economy sectors with high technology readiness levels (TRL ≥6) and operating in one of the EU-27 or 16-HORIZON 2020 associated countries. ECBF invests in technologies, products, processes, business models and newly emerging value chains linked with biobased products/resources and with applications in Ag-Tech, blue economy, industrial biotech, biobased chemicals, specialities and materials, nutrition, packaging, personal & home care, construction, and textiles. Innovative solutions based on circular models and conversion technologies for the valorization of by-products and bio-waste streams have a high priority for us. Commitment with ESG criteria is also a requirement.

Financing offers

ECBF target a total fund size of EUR 250 Mio. for up to 25 investments. Investments vary between EUR 2.3 Mio and 10 Mio per
company depending on TRL level, growth potential, market-fit, ESG alignment, and USP attractiveness, among others. We offer different financial instruments, including Equity, Mezzanine, and Debt,
